Salpingotomy preserves the tube, which may be necessary to maintain fertility in the patient. However, the patient is at a risk of future ectopic pregnancy in the preserved tube.
4. What is the difference between salpingectomy and tubectomy?
As said previously during salpingectomy, a part of or the complete fallopian tube is removed whereas tubectomy is done for sterilization for family planning. In tubectomy the tube is divided and ligated or clipped.
5. How many days hospitalization will be required for salpingectomy?
It depends on the indication for the procedure and can vary from 2 to 7 days. Please ask the gynecologist before admission to the hospital.
6. If I have a catheter in the urinary passage, when would it be removed?
It is normally removed within 24 to 48 hours.
7. How many days will the intravenous drip continue?
Normally 24 to 48 hours. It depends on when do you start passing flatus. If there is a slow recovery it may continue for longer.
