Glossary

Blepharospasm - Uncontrolled blinking or involuntary closing of eyelids.

Strabismus - Misalignment of eyes, or ‘cross-eyes’.

Neurotransmitter - Chemicals released from the neurons that aid in transmitting signals.

Intramuscular injections - Injections that are given directly into the muscles.

Subcutaneous injections - Injections that are given beneath the skin.

Glabellar lines - Frown lines that are formed between the eyebrows.

Corrugator and Procerus muscles - Accessory muscles that aid in eyelid closure.

Spasm - Involuntary contraction of a muscle.

Dystonia - Neurological movement disorder causing involuntary movement of muscles that result in abnormal postures.

Dysphonia - It is a dystonia of larynx resulting in breaking of voice.

Fibromyalgia - It is also called ‘chronic fatigue syndrome’ and results in musculo-skeletal pain.

Achalasia - It is a disease that affects the muscles of the oesophagus, resulting in a difficulty to swallow.

Cerebral Palsy - Medical condition, caused mostly by an injury to the brain that affects the movement of the muscle.

Dysphasia - A disorder that causes impairment of speech.
