BOTOX: The Magic Toxin - Treating the Side Effects

Treating the side effects

Side effects can be treated by a few simple techniques and medications.

The soreness at the site of injection can be reduced by placing an ice pack. If it continues, medicines like Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen may be taken.

Some people develop a headache, after being injected with Botox, which usually resolves in 1-2 days. Other symptoms like muscle soreness, weakness in the body, and difficulty in swallowing food are some of the other side effects, which will usually disappear in a short time.

Some patients develop Ptosis or droopy eyelids, which happens due to the migration of the toxin to other areas from the injected site. This usually will disappear after 3 weeks. Care should be taken not to rub the site for 12 hours after treatment or to lie down for 3-4 hours.
