Glossary

Gleason Score: A Grading system for prostate cancer to identify the aggressiveness of cancer and its chances to grow and spread. Gleason score is calculated based on the histopathological examination of the tumor.

Extraprostatic extension: Condition where tumor just begin to spread outside the capsule of prostate gland.

PSA: Prostate Specific Antigen is biochemical marker to suggest degree of prostate cancer. It is useful in estimation of Treatment outcome.

T1 stage cancer: Extremely small tumor inside prostate gland.

T2 stage cancer: Tumor inside one-half of prostate gland lobe or one lobe or in both the lobes. But the tumor is localised only.

Proctitis: Irritation and damage caused to intestine and rectum by Radiations leads to development of medication called Proctitis. The condition is characterised by frequent diarrhoea, bloody stools, Stool leakage, and incontinence of gas.
