Follicle Stimulation
The prospective mother is treated with gonadotrophic hormones or other forms of fertility medications to induce maturation of the oocyte. The dosage of the drug is adjusted according to age, weight and development of the follicle.
The patient is also being monitored by trans-abdominal ultrasound regarding the development of the follicles. Particular care should be taken to ensure that ovulation should not occur before the medical staff are ready for oocyte aspiration.
