Diazepam is prescribed for short-term relief of anxiety symptoms and in the management of anxiety disorder. It is also used to treat panic attacks, seizures, muscle spasms, inability to sleep (insomnia, alcohol withdrawal syndrome, restless leg syndrome, opioid or benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome, and as a premedication before endoscopy or surgery procedures.
