Doxycycline is a prescription drug used to treat wide variety of bacterial infections. It is used to treat pneumonia, acne, lyme disease, cholera, anthrax, tularemia or rabbit fever and sexually transmitted infections such as syphilis and chlamydia. It belongs to a group of tetracycline antibiotics. Doxycycline can be used in patients who are allergic to penicillin.
