Fluoxetine is an antidepressant drug used to treat major depressive illness, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), panic disorder, bulimia nervosa or eating disorder, and trichotillomania (TTM) or hair pulling disorder. It works by increasing the level of serotonin in the brain which helps in maintaining mental balance.
