Nitroglycerin is prescribed to treat heart diseases such as chest pain or angina, myocardial infarction, and high blood pressure. It is also used in conditions like anal fissure and fistula. Place 0.3 to 0.6 mg sublingual tablet under the tongue and allow to dissolve slowly. Spray 1 to 2 sprays directly under the tongue every 5 minutes. The transdermal patch of nitroglycerin delivers 0.2 to 0.4mg/hr patch applied topically once daily.
