Dr. Arvind Krishnamurthy, MCh Surgical Oncology, DNB Surgical Oncology, Consultant Surgical Oncologist and an Associate Professor in Cancer Institute, Adyar, Chennai, South India talks about the changing prevalence rates of cancer in India and how the 300 million tobacco consumers are likely to double its incidence by 2020.He is actively involved in comprehensive cancer care i.e. from prevention, management to rehabilitation and palliation. Contrary to popular belief, cancer can be cured if it is diagnosed early and modifying lifestyle and behavior such as quitting smoking and alcohol can even prevent it. Leading a healthy lifestyle also helps in the long term to keep the cancers at bay.
