What is Ortner's syndrome ? Ortner’s syndrome refers to recurrent laryngeal nerve palsy from cardiovascular disease.
Cause(s) :
Dilated left atrium due to mitral stenosis
Increased blood pressure in the pulmonary artery, pulmonary vein or other blood vessels that supply the lungs
Aberrant subclavian artery (abnormal anatomy of the subclavian artery)
Enlarged pulmonary artery
Aneurysm in thoracic aorta
Symptoms :
Hoarseness of voice
Dysphagia (difficulty in swallowing)
