Genetic component is suspected
Metabolic factor
Symptoms :
Not getting periods after having one normal cycle during puberty
Irregular periods
Extra hair growing on the chest, belly, face and around nipples
Acne on face, chest and back
Dark or thick markings on skin
Creases around the armpits, groin, neck and breasts
Male pattern baldness
Swollen ovaries
Enlargement of clitoris
Diagnosis and Tests :
Blood tests to check for levels of hormones in blood such as:
Follicle stimulating hormone
Estrogen
Leutinizing hormone
Testosterone
Vaginal ultrasound
Pelvic laproscopy
