What is Sudden Infant Death Syndrome ?  

Sudden unexplained death of a child less than one year of age. Detailed death scene investigation and autopsy also does not explain the cause. There is usually no evidence of struggle or no noise produced and usually occurs in sleep.


Cause(s) :  
  • Unknown cause
Risk factors include:
  • Brain abnormalities
  • Low birth weight
  • Respiratory infection
  • Baby sleeping on the stomach
  • Baby sleeping on a fluffy or water bed that may obstruct the airway
