Storyline : Dr Jack McKee (William Hurt) is a successful surgeon at a leading hospital. He works long hours which leads to him being emotionally disconnected from his wife (Christine Lahti), his son (Charlie Korsmo). After Jack develops a life-threatening tumour, he sees life from a patient's perspective. He gets a clear understanding of the emotionally void hospitals, some doctors, and his colleagues display. He then meets a, fatally ill woman named June (Elizabeth Perkins) battling brain tumour and begins to realise the necessity of showing kindness in the medical profession.
