Storyline : Johnny Depp’s latest film, The Rum Diary is another example that clearly demonstrates how much respect the actor has for the late novelist Hunter S. Thompson and for his works, because the film is another adaptation of the writer’s earlier works. Paul Kemp is a young journalist and the film is about his travels, while he works as a reporter for a major new paper in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Paul is from New York and he in San Juan comes across many American journalists and makes friends with them. From here, if the story of the film can be seen from a more simplistic way, it can be said that the rest of the film is all about how Paul and his fellow journalists get mixed up in alcoholism, lust and many other destructive practices.
