If you have felt joyous yesterday for no definite reason, then don't be surprised, as yesterday is the happiest day of the year, at least that's what a researcher claims.
If you have felt joyous yesterday for no definite reason, then don't be surprised, as yesterday is the happiest day of the year, at least that's what a researcher claims.
Dr Cliff Arnall of Brecon, Powys, used a special equation to find out that 19th June is the nicest day of the year: O + (N x S) + Cpm/T + He.To calculate a day's happiness rating, former Cardiff University lecturer, 44, gave values to each of the symbols.
He added outdoors (O) to nature (N) multiplied by social interaction (S).
The expert then added childhood memories of summers (Cpm) divided by temperature (T) plus excitement about holidays (He).
According to the researcher, warmer summer days are more pleasant than gloomy winters, which, allows people to come out and socialize.
"People's minds are on the credit crunch but it doesn't take away from the equation's primary factors, spending time with people you love and being outdoors in the warm weather," the Sun quoted him as saying.

Dr. Arnall also believes that money does not necessarily buy happiness.

"I've spoken to miserable multi-millionaires and people who have no money but are very happy because they have amazing friends," he added.
