Two infants die due to the alleged medical negligence at Sardar Vallabhai Patel Post Graduate Institute of Pediatrics (Sishu Bhawan) in Cuttack.
Two newborns were admitted to the Neonatal ICU in this hospital. One was suffering from severe jaundice and another was admitted for respiratory infection. As immediate treatment was not initiated at the hospital, both of them succumbed.

Parents of both the infants raised a furore at the hospital and accused the doctors and staffs for not attending the newborns immediately. They have filed a complaint against the hospital at Lalbag police station.

Superintendent, Prof Niranjan Mohanty said, the conditions of the newborns were extremely critical. Both the neonates were on ventilator support and the doctors did their best to revive them.

“However, we have instituted an enquiry by a high-level team comprising deputy superintendent, two HoDs and the hospital administrator. The team would submit its report within a day,” he added.
