A woman who reported at a hospital here with what she thought were labour pains ended up being operated for a 21 kg tumour instead.
Shana Devi, 22, had been admitted with severe pain and a huge swelling in her belly."The woman wasn't pregnant. Instead, after tests, we found a huge tumour lodged in her ovaries and uterus," H.K. Premi, a doctor at the Lady Reading hospital, said here Tuesday.
The tumour was removed after a two-hour surgery and a team of half-a-dozen doctors and paramedics. "This is the first case of its kind the hospital has handled," said Premi.
The tumour has been sent to the pathology department for tests.
