A green corridor was created from Sagar Hospital, Jayanagar, to Narayana Health City, Bommasandra enabled a successful heart transplant.
Elavarasan, pledged his organs for donation six months ago, at St John's Hospital, Bangalore. The 32-year-old had a severe head injury and was declared brain dead after the 3-day hospital stay.//
Sharmila Vallal, Elavarasan’s sister, said, "I know that my brother is alive in so many bodies somewhere.”
Five of his organs were harvested. The corneas were sent to the Lions eye bank, the liver to BGS Global Hospitals and a kidney each to Sagar Hospital and the Institute of Nephro Urology. A 44-year-old man from Tamil Nadu who was suffering from familial dilated cardiomyopathy received his heart.

Dr Julius Punnen, senior cardiothoracic surgeon, who was a part of the 15-member team of Narayana Health City that performed the heart transplant, said, "The green corridor enabled the heart to reach us in a really short time. The four-hour period right from the time you stop circulation of blood in the heart in the donor to the time you activate circulation again, is very critical.”
