Doctors at AIIMS-Patna celebrate World Plastic Surgery Day by performing free surgery on a man who could not use his fingers due to leprosy.
On account of world Plastic Surgery Day, AIIMS Patna launched a program which emphasized on the service of free surgery for individuals suffering from leprosy. As a part of the program, 35-year-old man from Patna who was not able to use his fingers due to leprosy was operated for claw hand. It was a one-and-a-half hour operation and the patient would be discharged soon.
The surgery was conducted by Director of AIIMS Patna Dr.J K Singh and the Head of Department of Plastic Surgery Dr.Veena Kumari. She said “items needed during surgery have been provided free of cost by the hospital”.
Later, a conference was organized at AIIMS Patna on World Plastic Surgery Day in which Dr.Singh was the chief guest and a large number of doctors from the hospital and outside participated in it.
