$5.5 million is being invested by the Ontario government to prevent or reduce public smoking. This is another step to keep Ontario Smoke-Free. Ontario officials said that this money would pay for 100 enforcement officers in the province. The act strictly prohibits people from smoking in workplaces and enclosed spaces which is common to public.
In due course of time the officials think that it would help the people to quit smoking, discourage young people from smoking and thereby protect non-smokers. This is mainly because there is a rise in smoke-related diseases in Ontario which has already claimed 44 lives.
