In Singapore, 777 couples were to tie the knot on 7 July 2007 – a date that doesn’t repeat itself in a century.The Chinese and the Indian calendar consider the date 7.07.07 a very auspicious day.
Jane Lim and Keith Chua were dating for nine years before they decided to choose this auspicious date for their marriage. Chua said: "We both like the number seven. I'm born on 7 April, which is the 7th day of the month. I like seven because she likes seven."
The number is considered lucky by many and on this date many global events were organized including the ceremony of seven wonder of the word at Lisbon and the ‘Live Earth’ concert with famous artist performing to save the earth from Global warming.
In India some maternity hospitals are over-booked for caesarean surgery operation to be done on the day so that children haven auspicious birth.
Interestingly the number 7 has enjoyed the special significance from the time of the ancient Babylonians. It is an important number in the Bible as in the seven days of the creation. The body according to the Vedas has seven Chakras, there are seven continents in the world and so on.
