The deceased’s father alleged that doctors and staff were negligent towards his daughter and nurses did not have certified documents to do the job.
A private hospital has been fined Rs 6 lakh by the district consumer forum for medical negligence that took place in 2010. A woman died after giving birth to a son due to lack of medical care. "The doctor concerned and the hospital administration will share the fine amount," the bench of RD Pandey, Manju Kotaliya and Ranjendra Pargai stated. The fine will be paid with 6% interest to the complainant from the date of complaint till the decision came.
The case history dates back to 2010 when Aditi Negi, 28, died after giving birth to a son at the private hospital. Her father, Nainital-based Jagdish Bisht later filed a case against the hospital chairman citing medical negligence. Aditi’s father alleged that doctors and staff were negligent towards his daughter and nurses did not have certified documents to do the job.
Investigations revealed that the hospital lacked basic facilities to deal with emergency cases. The medical facility was devoid of equipment in the operation theatre, team of experts and trained nursing staff.
The owners of the hospital have a four-bed hospital in Nainital, while bigger hospitals with better facilities are located in Rudrapur and Udham Singh Nagar district.
