A three-year-old Melbourne boy calls for ambulance and saves mother.

Melbourne boy, has become a media celebrity in Australia for calling up ambulance services when his mother collapsed in an epileptic fit.

The boy has since been nominated for a police bravery award.

His mother, Rebecca Opis, suffers from epilepsy and had long feared she would need her kids' help in an emergency.

Ms Opis was ecstatic that her little boy Noah had been able to help her and called him a "hero".

“I am very happy and very proud of him," Mrs Opis said.

Noah and his nine-month-old brother Zac were alone when their mum had the epileptic fit.

Ms Opis said it was vital for parents to show their children how to use the phone and call for help, especially if someone in the family was sick

The mother of three young boys said she had often pulled the home phone out of its socket so her sons could practice how to call for help.

Noah actually used his mum's mobile phone to make the emergency call.

“I told him the whole time," she said. "To know that he’s actually got it and done it, it's great.”

Noah called triple 0 and said that his mother had fallen and was asleep and bleeding on the floor.

Police and ambulance officers rushed to the Narre Warren house and brought Rebecca to Dandenong Hospital for treatment.

Constable Travis Cusack was at the scene and praised young Noah for his quick-thinking actions.

“Noah’s mum was unconscious and if he had not made the emergency call it could have been quite some time before she received medical treatment," Constable Cusack said.

"He and his young brother would have also been left unattended.

“His actions might have saved her life and both he and his family should be very proud.

“Noah’s actions highlight the importance of triple 0 and how vital it is for parents to educate their kids about how to use this important resource.”

Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority (ESTA) spokesperson Wayne Debernardi said that Noah Opis was certainly a true hero.

"It is always a rewarding moment to have someone as young as Noah make a call to triple 0 for such a great result," said Debernardi.

“Our call-taker did a great job and was keen to nominate Noah for an award.

“This is a positive reminder to teach children at a very young age of what is required in the case of an emergency.

"Call triple 0 and know where the emergency is and what it is.”
