A Toddler Succumbs To Death Due To HFM

Hand, Food and Mouth (HFM) disease has taken the life of another 14-month-old toddler in Bintulu.

Hand, Foot and Mouth (HFM) disease has taken the life of another 14-month-old toddler in Bintulu.

Now the number of fatalities in Sarawak has reached six since the outbreak.

Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr George Chan told a press conference that a total of 82 children have been admitted to hospitals for HFM.

Dr Chan, who is the chairman for the state Disaster Management Committee, said that about 213 new cases were reported.

The total number of cases has now crossed 3,984.

Hence various measures have to be taken to prevent the situation from going out of control. The Government is considering closing down playgrounds.

The Education Ministry is monitoring all the schoolchildren traveling to the peninsula from Sarawak.

Education Minister Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein told reporters that all possible measures and monitoring are going on it way to stem the spread of the disease.
