A urine test for ease in prescription of drugs and therapies

team of scientists have devised a urine test that they say will help doctors to prescribe prescriptions to patients, based on their reactions to different drugs.

Keeping thee benefit of doctors, hospitals and patients in mind a team of scientists have devised a urine test that they say will help doctors to prescribe prescriptions to patients, based on their reactions to different drugs.

Now Jeremy Nicholson at Imperial College London led the study and made the discovery.

Excreted metabolites - small molecules produced naturally by the body, in a group of rats before and after treating them with high doses of paracetamol were analysed by the researchers.

“The method is more than 90% accurate at classifying the animals as low or high risk. The metabolic pathway is a sum of all things that affect life. Representatives of virtually every metabolic pathway in the body are found in urine, and even at the earliest stages of illness the body tries to keep itself constant by changes in compounds excreted in the urine,” was the lead researcher’s opinion.

This would now be used in humans after valid adaptations.
