Bollywood actors, celebrities, businessmen and sportspersons participated in the tenth edition of the Mumbai Marathon, which was held here on Sunday.
Bollywood actors, celebrities, businessmen and sports-persons participated in the tenth edition of the Mumbai Marathon, which was held here on Sunday. Around 40,000 enthusiastic citizens braved the morning chill to participate in the event, which highlighted various social causes, ranging from female feticide to saving tigers, to good health.
Mumbai Mayor Sunil Prabhu said: "This marathon is important and is an event which expresses love and dedication for Mumbai and shows that people are all together in Mumbai and sends this message to the whole country."
The marathon was flagged off by Maharashtra Governor K. Sankaranarayanan and among the top notches present at the event were industrialist Anil Ambani, his wife Tina Ambani, actors John Abraham and Juhi Chawla, including many other small screen actors.
Several social groups and non-governmental organizations also became part of the marathon.
A specially abled participant, Vivek Maure, said: "In this marathon for specially abled people, I want to give the message that such people should not restrict themselves to the homes and should come out and join the mainstream as even other people are willing to help the specially-abled people."
The event included a full marathon, a half marathon, a senior citizens run and a marathon for specially-abled persons.
