The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has decided to contribute $34 million to Papua New Guinea, to help fight HIV/AIDS.
In an attempt to curb the spread of HIV/AIDS, that has been haunting Papua New Guinea, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has decided to contribute $34 million. PNG has the highest incidence rates of the disease in the Pacific.
The health minister, Dr Puka Temu who is working in close association with the PNG’s Prime Minister has welcomed the initiative. He further stated that the utmost priority of the Government would be to help the Health Department and other donor organizations to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS.Collaboration between the financial organization and Government is further anticipated in areas such as forestry, mining, fisheries and agriculture. With an increase in financial allocation for HIV/AIDS prevention, the situation in Papua New Guinea is likely to improve in the forth coming years.
