Adequate preparation in Ottawa for pandemic.

Federal Health Minister Tony Clement has said that anti-virals will be made available to every Canadian who gets ill during a pandemic

Federal Health Minister Tony Clement has said that anti-virals will be made available to every Canadian who gets ill during a pandemic. This was part of Canada’s preparation efforts to combat a potential pandemic.

The Minister said, "We want everyone who is ill to receive treatment. A strategy is now in place to make sure everyone who needs drugs will get them."

Several programs have been initiated to equip the provinces to combat any public health emergency. 11 million drug doses have been made ready in Quebec alone and there is a plan to stock up the other regions as well. The government has also promised to allocate up to $1 billion in the federal budget, in a five-year timeframe, as part of the financial assistance required to prepare in the event of a pandemic.
