The health ministry in Afghanistan has said some 400,000 blind people live in the country. It also said some 25,000 Afghans lose sight of at least one of their eyes annually.
But the number of blind people would reduce in near future due to better health services currently being provided, the health ministry's spokesman Kaneshka Baktash told Xinhua.
Over 80 percent of Afghanistan's some 28 million people have access to health services in the post-Taliban Afghanistan, he said.
