The Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) has approved 113 new research projects costing over Rs 5 crore as it looks to improve its response for services-related operational and clinical problems. Announcing the approval at the 59th Armed Forces Medical Conference, the AMFS said that its main priority has always been the soldiers' health and service-related areas in medicine.
The AMFS had received more than 175 project proposals from medical, dental and nursing officers of the AFMS amounting to a budget of over Rs 11 crore before the list was culled to 113.
The final selection of the project proposals were made by the Armed Force Medical Research Committee which includes the medical services of the Army, Navy and Air Force along with two civilian experts nominated by the Ministry of Defence.
