Three doctors of a private hospital in Zirakpur, Chandigarh have been booked for medical negligence after a 40-year-old woman resident of Nagla village died. The three were identified as Monika, Amrish Mittal and Ashish. On August 8, the woman and her husband approached the hospital after suffering from acute stomach pain. Stones were found in her gallbladder. A surgery was performed to remove the foreign objects. The woman was discharged from the hospital but her stitches were re-opened a number of times so she visited the hospital thrice.
On September 13 when the woman went to set right the re-opened stitches the doctors around 12:30 pm informed her husband that she had passed away. Woman’s husband launched a protest, accusing the doctors of negligence and demanded they be booked.
Three people were booked under section 304 A of the IPC. Raids aree being conducted to arrest them. The hospital was also asked to provide medical documents of the woman. Sources said Ram had borrowed money from some villagers for the treatment of his wife, who has left behind two children.
