AIDS Threat Not Being Taken Seriously

United Nations secretary general Ban Ki-Moon has launched a tirade on nations that are barring HIV positive people from entering their country.

United Nations secretary general Ban Ki-Moon has launched a tirade on nations that are barring HIV positive people from entering their country.

“I call for a change in laws that uphold stigma and discrimination, including restrictions on travel for people living with HIV. It is shocking that there should still be discrimination against those at high risk, such as men who have sex with men, or stigma attached to individuals living with HIV,” Ban stressed.

And its not only the developing countries, but the more advanced ones like the US, Russia and South Korea that bar HIV positive people from entering their countries.

And the UN threw the cat among the pigeons lately saying that the AIDS threat might have been overestimated. Kevin de Cock, head of HIV/AIDS at the World Health Organization has said that AIDS was unlikely to explode as an epidemic in heterosexuals outside of Africa.
