Al Gore’s son has been charged with possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanour charges of possession of substance without a prescription and possession of marijuana

Former US Vice-President Al Gore’s son has been charged with two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanour charges of possession of a controlled substance without a prescription and possession of marijuana, and a speeding infraction in connection with the pull over of his vehicle on July 4.

A law enforcement source revealed on Friday that 140 Vicodin pills and "dozens" of other prescription drugs had been recovered from Albert Gore Third’s car.

If convicted on all the charges levelled against him, Albert may be sentenced to imprisonment that may extend up to three years and eight months.

However, the Orange County District Attorney's Office says that the State law makes Albert eligible for a drug diversion program instead of incarceration.

Albert will be arraigned on August 1 in Laguna Niguel, California, reports People magazine.

The 24-year-old’s blue Toyota Prius was pulled over south of Los Angeles on July 4. He was allegedly driving faster than 100 mph.

Since there was the smell of marijuana inside the car, the police carried out a search and recovered prescription drugs including Xanax, Valium, Soma, Vicodin and Adderall from the vehicle.
