Heavier than normal rainfall has led to the worst pollen explosion in five years leading to a number of people visiting their doctors due to various allergies.
Lower Colorado River Authority meteorologist Bob Rose revealed that heavy rains which have followed two years of drought like conditions has seen pollen productions of oak, hackberry and grass flare up.Matters have not been helped by the dry windy days in between in the rainfalls which has further spread the pollens across central Texas.
“The oak trees that had been put under stress by two years of drought are now producing a lot of pollen in the wake of winter rains. Dry windy days between the rains have put more of the pollen into the air”, Rose added.
