A 65-year-old patient laid waiting in an ambulance as the driver forgot about him and went home for the night.
The driver was supposed to take the sick pensioner, from Northenden, back to his care home. But once he dropped off three others, he returned to the ambulance station and called it a night thinking he was done for the day, reports the Daily Express.
The kidney patient was found at 1am after the alarm was raised and cops called in.
The driver has been sacked pending an inquiry by North West Ambulance Service.
Chief executive Darren Hurrell said: "We have offered our sincere apologies to the patient. All possible steps will be taken to ensure this never happens again."
