American theatre and film director Tom O'Horgan, well known for creating hit hippie musical Hair, has passed away. He was 84.
The director, who was suffering from Alzheimer's disease, breathed his last on Sunday at his home in Venice, Florida.The cause of his death has not been revealed as yet.
O'Horgan left no immediate survivors, reports the Daily Express.
O'Horgan was also revered for making such Broadway plays as Jesus Christ Superstar, Lenny and Inner City.
He earned a Tony Award nomination in 1969 for Best Direction of a Musical, on the back of the success of Hair.
The musical is still very successful, and a new Broadway production of the show is scheduled to open on March 31.

His work was honoured with three Drama Desk Awards for his Off Broadway direction.
