American eat less of fruits and vegetables.
According to CDC’s weekly report, Americans are consuming very little of vegetables and fruits resulting in the rise of heart diseases, cancer and other ailments. This was disclosed by Heidi Blanck who studied 300,000 people in the year 2005.
Blanck found that 32.6% of the respondents had fruits twice or trice in a day. 27.2% consumed vegetables thrice or more than thrice per day. The CDC’s health officials feel that it is advisable for people to have at least 5 servings of vegetables and four to eight servings of fruits daily.Blanck also adds that consuming less of vegetables and fruits is likely to result in obesity, cancer, heart problems, diabetes, Alzheimer’s and a host of other diseases. The study indicated that college graduates and healthy people consumed a lot of fruits and vegetables. On a gender level, men ate only three servings of vegetables a day. Blanck suggests that CDC and other related agencies should make the Americans eat more vegetables and fruits.
