Calls are growing for a new doll, called Nenuco Won’t Eat, to be banned after its makers were accused of encouraging anorexia.
When the girls attempt to feed the doll, developed by a Spanish company, it reportedly shuts its mouth and turns its head away, thanks to a magnet used in the feeding spoon.

While the makers say that the doll has been designed to help children realize the problems that their mothers go through when feeding them, a number of people say that it may encourage girls to refuse being fed as they will view it as a normal behavior.

“This doll sends the wrong message to children and encourages them to think that refusing food is normal behavior. We would not want children to be influenced by this, and are concerned that it promotes unhealthy attitudes towards food and body image”, Chris Leaman, who is the policy manager at YoungMinds, said.
