Anti-Smoking Kits With Nicotine Patches to be Distributed by NHS
In a major policy shift with respect to smoking in Britain, the health ministry has revealed that it will be distributing more than a million anti-smoking kits as part of a New Year drive to help the general population keep their resolution of quitting the habit.
While such kits are already distributed by the NHS, the new pack contains additional items such as nicotine patches along with the usual materials like helpline numbers, calculators to chart the money saved on not buying cigarettes and motivational material.

The kits will be a part of the Change4Life drive that will also see more than 5 million vouchers for discounts at various gyms and swimming sessions. Most of the reported £250 million needed for the drive will be acquired by donations from various businesses that are backing the initiative.

“This is an absolutely key thing for us, a major part of the Big Society programme. The main thing is not to order people to get fit, or to set meaningless targets like Labour did, but to help persuade people to take action off their own bat”, a government source said.
