Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals was the first hospital in India to get the Joint Commission International accreditation in 2005.

Sisodia congratulated the Apollo Hospitals Group and expressed his desire to replicate their committed efforts and excellence across the capital in several new health initiatives that the government was planning to set up.
In July 2005, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals became the first from India and the sixth in Asia to be accredited by JCI.
JCI accreditation standards are based on international consensus standards and set uniform, achievable expectations for structures, processes and outcomes for hospitals.
Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals managing director Jaideep Gupta said, "The JCI accreditation is testimony to Apollo Hospitals' constant endeavor to provide world-class patient care and maintain highest standards in healthcare delivery systems in India."
