Feigning sickness and taking a day off at work seems to be common among employees especially among the 18- 34 age group. Some of the famous reasons for employee absenteeism were pet illnesses, stomach upsets, and of course a general ‘under the weather’ feeling.
The research also found that the motivation to be absent from work stemmed from sheer frustration, boredom and depression. Some of them lied in order to experience some excitement like a romantic meeting with a loved one.
