Newly designed artificial limbs were distributed free of cost to seven people in an event by the Rotary Club of Ahmedabad North, in association with the Blind People’s Association (BPA).
The event is part of the Rotary LN – 4, which is a joint project of Rotary Club of Walnut Creek Sunrise in California and the Ellen Meadows Prosthetic Hand Foundation, USA. The LN-4 limbs are designed for use in from below-elbow amputations.“It will help them perform basic functions like driving car, drinking water and writing. It has a simple lever function which enables the person to hold an object,'' said Mohan Kamath, president of Rotary Club, Ahmedabad North.
The club has plans to recruit 20 beneficiaries to this scheme. These LN-4 artificial limbs are currently not available in Gujarat.
