Aurobindo Pharma announced that it has received approval from the FDA to manufacture Metformin Hydrochloride extended release tablets for treating diabetes.
Hyderabad-based drugmaker Aurobindo Pharma announced that it has received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration to manufacture Metformin Hydrochloride extended release tablets for treating diabetes. The company revealed that it has received approval to market the drug in 500mg and 750mg strengths and will be manufactured in the Unit III formulations facility in Hyderabad which had been placed under an import ban by the FDA until recently due to the packaging facilities not being up to mark in terms of good manufacturing practices.
The ban was overturned back in March this year after inspections by the FDA, following which the health regulator has approved manufacture of blood thinner clopidogrel and psychiatric drug Quetiapine.
