The Australian Sex Party is all set to stage an Erotic Short Film Festival in New South Wales, but the event would be minus any X-rated material, thanks to the censor laws in the region.
The party will stage the nation's first Erotic Short Film Festival on Wednesday. However, Fiona Patten, the party convener has said that owing to the censorship laws the films will not be anywhere near as racy as desired by most party members.
The event will be nothing more than a black-tie fund-raising dinner, which will form part of the Sexpo festivities in Sydney this week.
"All the films will be classified R-rated," the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Patten as saying of the film festival.
"About half the submissions we got we had to reject because they had X-rated scenes in them," she added,
However, the event does boast an X-rated guest-adult-film actor Sasha Grey, who recently made the crossover to mainstream cinema in the Steven Soderbergh film 'The Girlfriend Experience', which is part of this year's Sydney Film Festival.
Patten says Grey submitted one of her other films for Wednesday night's festival but it was also rejected "on the grounds that it was just too explicit".
