Eating a balanced diet can go a long way in reducing the risk of dementia in the late stages of life, a new research published in BMJ Clinical Evidence reveals.
A group of biomedical scientists at Edinburgh University are conducting an extensive research in the condition and the team has claimed that results have been promising so far. According to the study, eating a balanced diet could reduce the risk of dementia by at least 20 percent. The researchers added that apart from reducing dementia risk, living a healthy lifestyle could also prove beneficial in warding off other conditions such as hypertension, heart disease and strokes.
Alzheimer's Research Trust’s spokesperson, Alison Carnage, welcomed the findings adding “I think it really highlights the evidence that leading a healthy lifestyle, taking regular exercise and eating a healthy diet can help lower someone's risk of dementia.”
