Be More Realistic About Women's Bodies, Firms Told

Equalities spokeswoman from the Liberal Democrats Lynne Featherstone has called on clothing firms to be more realistic about women's bodies

Equalities spokeswoman from the Liberal Democrats Lynne Featherstone has called on clothing firms to be more realistic about women's bodies especially when designing clothes for women who have just delivered babies.

Ms Featherstone said companies needed to be more realistic so that women can feel better about their shape, "In the end we all deserve to be happy just the way we are," she said.

She was reacting to announcement by Debenhams, which said that it will be using size 16 mannequins in its shopping windows for the new Ben de Lisi range for Principles.

The average size of women in the UK is size 14-16, but most clothing ranges display size 10 mannequins, making women feel inadequate about their shape.
