One of the country’s leading retail chains, Lifestyle will be commemorating the World Diabetes Day by launching a new initiative to educate the general population in Bangalore over the risk posed by diabetes. “Beat Diabetes” will include a number of services apart from educating the public including free blood glucose screening tests at various Landmark group stores and Fitness One outlets in the city as well as a five-km walkathon on November 21 from Kanteerva Stadium to Cubbon Park.
“Diabetes has rarely been part of any Corporate Social Responsibility initiative though it affects a large section of the society. However, we realised that a high percentage of the population living with type 2 diabetes are not even aware of the fact that they are suffering from this condition. This prompted us to take up the cause and help spread awareness about the disease”, managing director of Lifestyle Kabir Lumba said.
