Bihar Reeling as Diarrhoea Spreads

Bihar's Health Secretary Deepak Kumar said on Sunday that over 5,000 diarrhoea cases have been reported from flood hit Madhepura, Araria, Saharsa, Supaul and Purnia districts of the State.

Over 5,000 diarrhoea cases have been reported from Bihar in flood hit Madhepura, Araria, Saharsa, Supaul and Purnia districts of the State, Health Secretary Deepak Kumar said on Sunday.

He said diarrhoea and viral fever are spreading fast in flood hit districts.

Of these, over 1200 cases were of acute diarrhoea were reported.

More than 10,000 cases of fever have been reported from these districts till now.

According to reports 11 persons have been died of diarrhea.

Bihar has witnessed the worst floods in living memory. Over three million people have been displaced and over 90 people have lost their lives because of the catastrophe caused by the Kosi river.

The government and the self-help groups are striving hard to evacuate the people and prevent spread of an epidemic.
