Research finds the ability of men to get their partners pregnant drastically falls once they are past 41 years of age.
Researchers at Huntington Medicina Reproductiva clinic in Brazil have come out with a surprising new finding, stating that the ability of men to get their partners pregnant drastically falls once they are past 41 years of age. The researchers studied 570 IVF cycles and found that while 41-year old men have a 60 percent chance of fertilizing an egg; it fell to 35 percent by the time they reached 45 years.
The researchers concluded that a man’s ability to get his partner pregnant fell by 7 percent every year after he turns 41.
Presenting the study at the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, lead researcher Dr Paula Fettback said, “Men have a biological clock too. It is not the same as for women but they can’t wait forever to have children. They have to think about having children, especially after 45.”
